Rep. Armando Walle

Improvements Coming to West Gulf Bank Road

Rep. Walle joined Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia, the Harris County Flood Control District, the Airline Improvement District, the City of Houston, and the Sunbelt Fresh Water Supply District to celebrate the West Gulf Bank Road Project ribbon cutting in Aldine.

This collaborative effort expands the roadway from two lanes to five, adds new sidewalks and traffic signals to improve pedestrian and driver safety, and strengthens flood resilience for nearby neighborhoods. The project represents a major investment in safer streets and stronger infrastructure for North Houston families.

Touring the Next Generation of Texas State Parks

Rep. Walle recently joined Texas Parks and Wildlife Department staff for a tour of Post Oak Ridge, the site of Texas’ next brand-new State Park in Lampasas County.

In 2023, Texas voters overwhelmingly approved the Centennial Parks Conservation Fund during the Constitutional Amendment election. The Fund, which Rep. Walle originally authored alongside Sen. Tan Parker (R-Flower Mound), is a $1 billion investment to expand public access to nature while preserving native ecosystems and cultural landmarks.

Progress is moving quickly. Texans could enjoy early access to Post Oak Ridge State Park within a year. Within 18 months, the park will add trails, parking, and restrooms, and within four years, it’s set to open as a full state park with day-use and overnight facilities.

Texas Democrats call on Gov. Greg Abbott to intervene before SNAP benefits lapse | Houston Chronicle

"It's un-Texan and un-American to turn a blind eye to our neighbors' suffering," said caucus hunger crisis committee co-chair Rep. Armando Walle, of Houston. “Governor Abbott has the clear authority to use state funds to bridge the gap in federal funding and keep Texans fed — he should do it without delay.”

Gov. Greg Abbott under pressure to use emergency funds for looming SNAP crisis | Texas Tribune

State Rep. Armando Walle, D-Houston, said he and other lawmakers first reached out last week to Abbott’s office following news that the SNAP funds would be halted, asking whether the governor would declare an emergency and move funding from other agencies.

“I haven’t gotten a response other than they’re going to look into it,” Walle said. “This is a human capital natural disaster.”
