Rep. Armando Walle Statement on Final State Budget
(Austin, TEXAS) – Today, the Texas House gave approval to the conference committee report on Senate Bill 1, the state’s budget.
Rep. Armando Walle (House District 140), the House Conferee for Articles VI, VII & VIII, was one of the five budget authors from the House of Representatives that worked with the five Senate conferees to come up with final version of the state budget for fiscal years 2027/2028.
Rep. Walle released the following statement:
“As one of the authors of the state budget, I am so proud of the life-changing investments we have made this Session.
“Between the budget and the supplemental, the state of Texas is putting billions into water projects — including a $2.5 billion investment in the Texas Water Fund to support flood control and supply projects across the state. We also invested billions into workforce development programs, and millions into our state and local parks.
“I am grateful for the partnership of House and Senate leaders to approve $100 million for the child care scholarship program to support Texas families waiting for daycare. I am also thrilled to have had the backing of Speaker Burrows and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick to feed kids through the federal ‘Summer EBT’ program. We expect this $60 million investment to draw down $450 million per year beginning in summer of 2027 to help Texas families put meals on the table over the summer.
“I am proud of the work we accomplished in both chambers and across the aisle in Articles VI, VII & VIII, and am grateful to have again served for a fourth term as a budget conferee on behalf of my district and the state of Texas.”
